Run for the Kids – Race day recap

After a week of near constant rain Sunday 13th April dawned crisp and sunny – luckily for us Mother Nature had moved up to Far North Queensland to persecute Cooktown and its surrounds with Cyclone Ita so we were off the hook for now. I had somehow – finally – managed to get myself motivated enough about a race…

A week in which nothing much happened and I have a rant…

This past week has been uneventful which is a good thing, really. Although it does narrow down the amount of bitching and moaning I can do, haha. No sign of any niggles, and I had a really strong long run where I accidentally did 17k instead of 15k.  I seem to be doing this more often…

5 things I’ve been reading this week

1.  A tongue in cheek look at what it is like being in a relationship with someone who is obsessed with running. It’s all true I tell you! I may not be an ultra-runner yet, but I will eat all your food and create massive piles of dirty laundry (although in my house I do the…

A cross training problem…

If you’re anything like me one of the more enjoyable parts of training is filling out your daily running (or exercise) journal. I love getting fancy with my Excel spreadsheet, highlighting each form of exercise in different colours, listing whether the run was road or trail, logging speed work, hill reps and weekly mileage totals….

It’s boring being patient

And I must say I’m pretty sick of it. However I am still calling 2014 the Year of Smart Training. Patience, persistence, focus. Plus a little bit of avoiding Facebook because my green eyed monster just can’t stand seeing other people’s posts on all the races and workouts they’re doing while I sit at home trying to feel good…

I’m baaaaack….Returning to running after a break

I always feel conflicted getting back into training after a break. I either think: 1)      Why did I stop I am so unfit I will never get back to where I was OR 2)      I can’t wait to do everything right this time round a fresh start is so exciting As with most things in…

A brief hiatus…

I am still alive and not buried under empty champagne bottles and party hats. Much. December is time to play, enjoy the festive atmosphere and drink waaaay too much, all in the name of the Party Season. I do love the Party Season, second only to the ski season of course. So – no running…

That Pointer Sisters feeling (I’m so excited)

You know someone’s veeery comfortable around you when you ask them to stick their elbow into your butt and they just say ‘ok’. Hubby has a knack for the art of massage. He isn’t trained or anything, so obviously for injuries I go to an actual Physio or remedial masseuse, but for day to day…

Just breathe into this paper bag…

A very quick post because all I can think to type is OMG! OMG! OMG! the Melbourne Marathon is in… Gulp! Well, that and the fact that the organisers spelt ‘friends‘ wrong in their app email notification! I am veeeery hyper, so ready to go and can’t fall asleep each night because I have all…
